The Journey
Ella Palframan is one of Upper 90 College’s most prolific current NJCAA athletes – a Canberra-born midfielder/forward who has become a goal-scoring sensation for the Tyler Junior College Apaches in Tyler, Texas, one of the most prestigious junior college soccer programs in the USA. Growing up in Canberra, ACT, Ella was placed by Upper 90 College at Tyler Junior College (TJC) – a powerhouse NJCAA D1 program in the NJCAA Region 14 in East Texas. Her impact was immediate and spectacular. In her debut season (2024), Ella committed her place in the TJC squad with crucial goals and performances. In her sophomore year (2025), she announced herself at the national level: scoring twice in the opening 12 minutes against No. 5 Snow in a stunning ranked upset on the road, becoming a key contributor to TJC’s unbeaten start. She was also instrumental in victories over Navarro College and Trinity Valley Community College, cementing her reputation as one of NJCAA D1’s most dangerous forwards. TJC’s Apaches program is one of the most celebrated junior college programs in Texas, with alumni regularly progressing to four-year NCAA scholarships. Ella’s story is Upper 90 at its best – a player who embraced the NJCAA pathway, delivered from day one, and is now building a platform for the next chapter of her career.
Challenges Overcome
Competing in the intensely competitive NJCAA D1 Texas environment as an Australian required immediate adaptation. Scoring twice in 12 minutes against a Top 5 ranked program in her sophomore year confirmed Ella has the mentality and ability to perform on the biggest stages.
