Adam Voloder — NCAA Division I soccer player at Belmont University, placed by Upper 90 College

The Journey

Adam Voloder's journey from Western Sydney to NCAA Division I is one of Upper 90 College's most remarkable transformation stories – a Sydney-born forward who began his US college career at Cal State Monterey Bay (NCAA D2) and finished it at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, one of the Southern Conference's most competitive NCAA Division I programs. Growing up in Sydney, NSW, and attending Freeman Catholic College, Adam came through the competitive Sydney club football scene with Marconi Stallions, Sydney United, and Blacktown Spartans. Upper 90 College placed him at Cal State Monterey Bay (CSUMB) as a freshman in 2015, where he made an immediate impact – playing 15 games, scoring two goals, and logging 771 minutes. His breakout performances attracted attention from higher-level programs. Adam transferred to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee – an NCAA Division I program competing in the Southern Conference – for his junior and senior seasons (2017–2018). In 2017, he appeared in all 16 games, starting seven, and led the team with three goals while recording 16 shots with nine on frame. He continued contributing in 2018 as a senior, competing at the highest level of US college soccer. Adam's story exemplifies what the Upper 90 pathway can achieve for Australian players with the ambition to compete at the top tier of American college sport – starting at D2 and earning the right to play D1 through pure performance.

Challenges Overcome

Transferring from NCAA D2 to NCAA D1 is one of the most competitive jumps in US college soccer. Adam achieved it through consistent performance at CSUMB and the persistence that defines every Upper 90 athlete who reaches the top level.

Achievements

2 goals and 15 appearances as a CSUMB freshman (2015). Led Belmont University in goals (3) in the Southern Conference (2017). 16 NCAA D1 appearances across 2 seasons at Belmont. Freeman Catholic College MVP – soccer, touch football, volleyball.

"Starting at CSUMB and finishing at Belmont Division I – that's the pathway Upper 90 helped me build."
