The Journey
Duncan Cahill is one of Upper 90 College's most distinguished alumni from regional Australia – a Dubbo-born midfielder who won the Western Premier League Player of the Year award before Upper 90 College placed him at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) – an NCAA Division II program competing in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Growing up in Dubbo, NSW, and attending St Joseph's College Hunters Hill, Duncan was named the 2019 All-Conference and School MVP before going on to play professionally for Orana Spurs Football Club in Dubbo and representing the Western NSW Premier League at the highest level, winning the Player of the Year award. Upper 90 College recognised his elite regional pedigree and placed him at UCCS in Colorado Springs – a city set against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. In his freshman season (2022), Duncan made his collegiate debut, appearing in six games and recording his first NCAA goal against Adams State on September 15th. He continued to develop across his junior and senior years at UCCS, logging 146 minutes and contributing to the Mountain Lions' Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference campaign. Duncan's story is one of Upper 90's most compelling regional Australia success stories – proof that elite talent from beyond the major cities can compete and thrive in NCAA Division II.
Challenges Overcome
Transitioning from the Western NSW Premier League to NCAA Division II required enormous physical and tactical development. Recording his first collegiate goal against Adams State and establishing himself across three seasons at UCCS confirmed Duncan had the quality to compete at the US college level.
