Riley McQueenie — NJCAA soccer player at Arizona Western College, placed by Upper 90 College

The Journey

Riley McQueenie is one of Upper 90 College’s most celebrated NJCAA women’s alumni – an Australian defender who helped Arizona Western College’s Lady Matadors claim the NJCAA Region I title and the Western District Championship, etching her name into AWC women’s soccer history. Placed by Upper 90 College at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Arizona, Riley quickly established herself as a key defensive contributor for the Lady Matadors. In her freshman season (2023/24), she wore number 20 and played a pivotal role in AWC’s dominant NJCAA season, appearing in multiple Region I matches and even getting on the scoresheet with a goal recorded early in the season. The highlight of Riley’s Arizona Western career was the team’s NJCAA Region I Championship and Western District title – one of the most significant achievements in Lady Matadors history. Upper 90 College celebrated her achievement as one of the program’s most exciting outcomes for a women’s player in recent years.

Challenges Overcome

Competing as a young defender in the NJCAA D1’s most competitive region required immediate physical and tactical adaptation. Earning a starting role and helping deliver a Region I title in her debut season was an extraordinary achievement.

Achievements
