The Journey
Liv Riddell is one of the most decorated Australian student-athletes in Upper 90 College history – a goalkeeper who competed on the Australian U17 and U19 National Teams before taking her talents to Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, where she became one of the best keepers in NCAA Division II. Over four seasons at Jefferson, Liv transformed into one of the premier goalkeepers in the CACC conference and across all of NCAA D2. In her senior year (2024), she posted an extraordinary record: 18-1-3 in goal, a 0.44 GAA, a .892 save percentage, and 12 shutouts – a school record. Her statistics ranked 6th nationally in save percentage and shutouts across all of NCAA Division II. Liv was named CACC Goalkeeper of the Year twice (2023, 2024), CACC All-Tournament MVP, D2CCA All-America Second Team, and the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Performer of the Year. She won the CACC Championship twice (2021, 2024) and was team MVP in her final season. Off the field, she was equally outstanding – earning the CSC Academic All-America First Team award and multiple academic honour rolls. Her career totals include 220+ saves, 22 shutouts, and a record of one of the most successful goalkeeper careers in Jefferson University history. Liv's story proves that Australian women are more than capable of thriving at the elite end of US college soccer.
Challenges Overcome
Competing at the national-team level in Australia before transitioning to a US college system as a freshman goalkeeper required immediate adaptation. Building her profile across four seasons in a physically demanding conference, while maintaining elite academic standards, tested every dimension of Liv's character.
