The Journey
Dunia Kambona’s journey from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland to Eastern Oklahoma State College – and now to NCAA Division II at Tiffin University – is a story of rapid development, relentless work rate, and a willingness to embrace every challenge the US college pathway presents. Growing up on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Dunia was identified by Upper 90 College as a powerful, commanding centre back with the athleticism and defensive intelligence to thrive in the US. His placement at Eastern Oklahoma State College (EOSC) in Wilburton, Oklahoma provided the NJCAA D1 platform he needed. At EOSC, Dunia was described by Upper 90 College as a ‘powerhouse on the field and an inspiration in every game’, with his dedication a key driver of the Mountaineers’ on-field performance. His commanding defensive displays across his NJCAA seasons confirmed his potential for the next level. In February 2026, Dunia’s talent was rewarded when he committed to Tiffin University (NCAA Division II) to continue his academic and athletic career – a step-up that exemplifies exactly what the Upper 90 NJCAA-to-NCAA transfer pathway can deliver. His story is ongoing and one of the most exciting Upper 90 journeys currently in progress.
Challenges Overcome
Moving from the Sunshine Coast to rural Oklahoma required enormous cultural and personal adaptability. Earning an NCAA D2 transfer commitment from a NJCAA platform demonstrated the rapid development that makes Upper 90’s pathway so effective.
