Early Career in Australia

Kristy Helmers began her soccer journey in Canberra, where she quickly established herself as a talented forward. She was named her team's MVP in both 2013 and 2014 at Tuggeranong United in the Capital Football Women's Premier League. Kristy was also a shadow player for the under-19 Australian school girls' team during the same years, showcasing her potential at a young age. Her academic and athletic prowess earned her the All Rounder award at Erindale College in 2014, where she was scouted by Upper 90 College Founder, John Stevanja.

Transition to NCAA D1 Soccer

In 2016, with the assistance of Upper 90 College, Kristy joined the Nicholls State University women's soccer team in Louisiana. Upper 90 College provided crucial support in her recruitment process, ensuring she found the right fit for both her academic and athletic aspirations.

At Nicholls State, Kristy majored in Dietetics, balancing a demanding academic schedule with her athletic commitments. Over her four years with the Colonels, Kristy amassed 3927 minutes on the field, making a significant impact as a forward. Her leadership was particularly evident during a coaching change, where she helped unify the team and fostered a familial atmosphere. Her stats reflect her contributions: 7 goals and 11 assists over 40 matches, showcasing her ability to both create and finish scoring opportunities.

Academic Achievements and Postgraduate Studies

Kristy's academic journey didn't stop at Nicholls State. After earning her undergraduate degree, she pursued an MBA with a concentration in Sports Administration from Friends University. Her time at Friends University further honed her leadership skills, both on and off the field.

Coaching Career

Kristy's transition into coaching began at Friends University, where she served as an Assistant Coach for the Falcons in the NAIA. Her role expanded beyond coaching as she became the Club Director of Soccer Operations with Wichita United FC, gaining invaluable experience in the administrative aspects of sports management.

In a full-circle moment, Kristy was recently appointed as the Head Coach of Nicholls State University Women's Soccer. Her appointment comes after a challenging season for the Colonels, and Kristy is poised to bring her extensive experience and leadership to revitalize the program.
